Another bitter pill: NEPRA approves significant rise in electricity rates

ISLAMABAD - The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Wednesday approved an increase of Rs 1.27 per unit in electricity prices.

A summary in this regard has been sent to the federal government to issue notification. Sources said that the increase in power tariff will put a burden of Rs 226 billion on consumers.

According to NEPRA sources, Uniform Tariff will be charged from the consumers for a period of twelve months. The Uniform Tariff will also include subsidy.
