*LAHORE: The Punjab Bar Council on Saturday demanded removal of Justice Qazi Faez Isa as judge of the Supreme Court.*

The Punjab Bar Council said this in a meeting in Lahore. The meeting approved a resolution comprising six points in this regard.

The resolution demanded that Justice Qazi Faez Isa should be removed from the post of judge of the Supreme Court. It said that action should be taken under Article 209 (V).

Qazi Faez Isa ‘targeted intelligence agencies’ in Faizabad sit-in case and violated canons of law, it said.

“He should not have ‘ridiculed’ state institutions, especially Pakistan Army,” said the resolution.

The Punjab Bar Council said members of the judiciary should work ‘within the authorities bestowed upon them by the Constitution.

The bar council termed removal of Justice Shaukat Aziz by the Supreme Judicial Council as a ‘correct measure’. It said Aziz had ‘targeted the judiciary and security agencies.’

The resolution said the Karachi Bar Association’s challenging the decision of removal of Shaukat Aziz was ‘beyond understanding.’

On March 30, a delegation of representatives of the Bar Councils from all over the country had called on Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa at the Supreme Court in Islamabad and discussed judicial issues.

The delegation had discussed a number of issues with the CJP, including establishment of model courts at district level and entertainment of applications of aggrieved persons by the sessions judges as ex-officio justices of peace under section 22-A CrPC after approaching designated superintendent of police (complaints), said a press release issued by Law & Justice Commission of Pakistan.
