India rejects Pakistan PM Imran Khan's proposal

ISLAMABAD - India rejected Prime Minister Imran Khan's proposal of holding the SAARC submit in Islamabad, Indian media has reported.

As per Indian media report, Pakistan's proposal for hosting the next SAARC summit in Islamabad is not accepted by PM Modi government.

Prime Minister Imran Khan seek to hold the 20th Saarc Summit in Islamabad in the letter to his Indian counterpart, Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar in a press conference said: "time and again we have said that the atmosphere in the region is not conducive for this summit."

Kumar added that it is difficult to hold the Saarc Summit which is to be hosted by Pakistan.

Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj and her Pakistani counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureshi will meet in New York on September 27.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed the meeting without specifying a date.
