KPK Police Policy Board re organises Peshawar territorial limits

PESHAWAR: (APP) A meeting of Police Policy Board (PPB) chaired by Inspector General Police, Nasir Khan Durrani Tuesday approved new territorial reorganization of district Peshawar and creation of one new division, one sub-division and realignment of certain police stations.

The meeting held at CPO was attended by Additional IGP HQrs, Additional IGP SB/CTD, Additional IGP Operations, Commandant Elite, Commandant FRP, CCPO, Peshawar, DIG Tele, DIG F&P. AIG Establishment, AIG Legal and Director IT.

It has to be recalled that some time back IGP constituted a committee of former CCPOs and SSPs (Operations) to examine and suggest territorial reorganization of district Peshawar for bringing improvement in policing and ensure effective supervision.

The committee discussed matter with different stakeholders and also made field visits.

The report of the committee suggested that keeping in view the areas of Rural Division Peshawar and crime ratio, it was difficult to address public grievances.

Police Policy Board after discussion decided to carve out a new division from existing Rural and Cantonment Divisions with the name of Saddar Division, one new Sub Division Saddar and realignment of certain police stations with the new proposed division and sub division.

Board observed that it would ensure effective supervision of police and improve interaction of senior officers with the locals.

It would also facilitate resolution of public grievances and improve quality of policing in the area.
