Yet another diplomatic blow for Saudi Arabia

RIYADH - Saudi Arabia faces yet another diplomatic blow over the death of the missing journalist.

Announcing that it was no longer appropriate to participate in the Saudi summit in light of the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, Australia pulled out of the Future Investment Initiative Conference (FIIC).

By pulling out of the Saudi summit, Australia now joins US, France, Netherlands and other several major nations and investors who have announced that they would not be attending the conference also called ‘Davos in the desert’ taking place on October 23.

Australia’s Foreign Affairs Minister Marise Payne said in a statement that Australia deplores the killing of Khashoggi at the hands of the Saudi operatives. She said that Australia had noted the latest announcement by the kingdom of arresting 18 Saudi nationals.
