ISLAMABAD - In a surprise, Shahbaz Sharif submits his resignation before departing to London. Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaisar on Wednesday approved resignation of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Chairman Shehbaz Sharif.

As per details garnered, Opposition leader of National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif has resigned as PAC Chairman.

However Asad Qaisar has issued notification regarding chairmanship of PAC. Notification would come into effective from today.

Shahbaz Sharif has tendered resignation citing personal issues.

After months of wrangling between the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and the opposition Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) over the issue of the Public Accounts Committee’s (PAC) chairmanship, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif was on December 22,2018 elected unopposed chairman of the parliamentary watchdog.

The PAC is the apex parliamentary watchdog that oversees the audit of revenue and expenditure by the government and it is considered to be the most powerful and important committee of parliament.
