NEW DELHI: The release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 'Padmavati' has been postponed, a spokesperson for the film’s producer and distributor said on Sunday.

According to details, the studio behind ‘Padmavati’, has voluntarily deferred the release date of the film from December 1, 2017.

The film has been a controversy magnet since it was announced and critics have not missed any opportunity to comment on film’s cast and the script, which according to them it distorts the history of Rajput queen Padmavati, whereas the renowned director of the movie Bhansali has repeatedly denied.

In movie, Deepika Padukone plays as the eponymous Rajput queen Padmavati, Shahid Kapur as King Ratan Singh, while Ranveer Singh would be seen as Delhi Sultanate ruler Alauddin Khilji.
