Pakistan reiterates to continue its role as facilitator for Afghan peace

ISLAMABAD-Pakistan's Special Representative for Afghanistan, Muhammad Sadiq visited Qatar and met Taliban leaders including Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar in Doha to discuss peace and reconciliation process in Afghanistan.

According to the Foreign Office Spokesperson Aisha Farooqui, during the meeting, the Special Representative underlined that Pakistan will continue to play its role as facilitator for peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan.

Muhammad Sadiq appreciated Taliban's commitment to implement the U.S.-Taliban peace agreement and also noted that the release of prisoners as per peace agreement would be a stepping stone towards immediate start of Intra-Afghan Negotiations.
