NEW DELHI - Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government won the Opposition backed no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha on Friday with 325 MPs voted against the motion.

The vote took place after PM Modi’s address in the lower house as the debate on the motion ran late into the night.

The Prime Minister mocked Rahul Gandhi for hugging him during the debate, saying the Congress president was actually dreaming of becoming the next Prime Minister and had asked him to get up from his seat in the Lok Sabha.

Earlier in the day, Modi was attacked by leaders of several opposition parties, including Congress president Rahul Gandhi and Telugu Desam Party’s Jayadev Galla, during the discussion over a number of issues.
