Hydroponic: Food and Water Security bigger challenges for Pakistan

RAWALPINDI (APP): Agriculture sector is backbone of Pakistan's economy which is not only providing the food but also helping in poverty alleviation.
This was stated by Prof Dr Rai Niaz Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) while addressing the students of Faculty of Agricultural Engineering who got internship at University's Hydroponic Plant.
Dr Rai Niaz said the food security and water scarcity are the major challenges being faced by the country and there is dire need to take initiatives to address these issues at national level.
Prof Dr Rai Niaz Ahmad urged the agricultural engineers to develop the low cost machineries not only to increase the productivity but to help out the farming community.
He emphasized that there is dire need to train the farmers about the use of new technology and machinery to get maximum result. said, condition of the region could be improved with the help of skilled hydroponic engineers.
He urged the researchers to understand the problems being faced by the farmers and come up with new innovations and ideas.
Vice Chancellor advised the students that they have to work very hard with sincerity for the implementation of purposeful and effective goals.
Total 72 students got internship for the duration of two months and will work on the specific task like electrical, mechanical and structural and chemistry related works.
