Shahbaz Sharif family corruption worth Rs 8 billion only

Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif has said that no one can ever prove corruption of single penny against him.

According to details, Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shahbaz appeared before Lahore’s accountability court in money laundering reference.

During court proceedings, Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz completed their attendance on rostrum. The associate lawyer informed the court that Shahbaz Sharif's lawyer Amjad Pervez was unable to appear owing to medical reasons.

The court asked Shahbaz Sharif if he wanted to say anything to which the PML-N leader replied that his medical board has not been formed yet.

“We will decide on your application today,” judge said.

“A money laundering case has been registered against me. They will not be able to prove corruption against me till the Day of Judgment,” he said terming the news of Daily Mail based on lies.

While proceedings were in process, a witness of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) recorded a statement against PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif and others.

The witness Bilal Zameer, who is also an employee of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), said that NAB investigating officer had asked me for record. He further said that all records given in this reference have been verified.

Later, the court adjourned the hearing till January 26.

It may be recalled that on August 17, 2020, NAB had filed a money laundering reference of Rs. 8 billion against Shahbaz Sharif, his two sons and other family members in the accountability court.

On August 20, Lahore’s Accountability Court approved a money laundering case for hearing against Shahbaz Sharif and his family.
