Sahiwal encounter: FIR registered against 16 CTD officials
ISLAMABAD - An FIR was lodged on Sunday afternoon against 16 the Counter-Terrorism Department officials allegedly involved in the Sahiwal shooting. They were arrested on Saturday night on the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The cops were allegedly involved in the killing of four people, including a woman and a teenage girl, in a police shooting in Sahiwal earlier today. The case was lodged against the Yousafwala police station.
After the PM contacted him, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar had directed Punjab Inspector-General Amjad Javed Saleemi to arrest the CTD police officials and register a case against them.
Earlier in the day, a joint investigation team was constituted by the Punjab IG to investigate the killings.
The investigation team will be headed by DIG Zulfiqar Hameed and members of the Inter-Services Intelligence, Military Intelligence and Intelligence Bureau will be part of it.
The team will submit its report in three days. The police are investigating the fatal shooting of four people at around 12pm on Saturday near the Okara toll plaza in Sahiwal by the CTD.
