DUBAI - Shaukat Khanum held its annual fundraising gala in Dubai yesterday at the Atlantis, The Palm resort and it was a star studded event, with big names like Maya Ali, Mahira Khan, Fakhar Alam and last but certainly not least Chairman board, Imran Khan himself!

Fakhr e Alam hosted the evening and even took the guests through a presentation on the amazing work being done at Shaukat Khanum. Mahira and Maya, who are brand ambassadors of the SKMH Breast Cancer Awareness campaign took to the stage and appealed to the guests to donate generously.

Tickets for the gala evening were priced between DHS 500-1500, all proceeds went to SKMH Karachi, while people also pledged a lot to the cause. For those who couldn’t make the event or donate as generously, this post spoke volumes;

Perhaps the highlight of the evening was an emotional and inspirational speech by one cancer survivor in the audience who openly blessed Imran Khan for creating such an organization that helps cancer victims fight the disease and was grateful to him for helping cure and save lives everyday.

Here is a look at what she had to say;

@falamb3 <link> You are a fighter @SKMCH <link> give you the opportunity.

Cancer Survivor: I am a living example. I will always though in my dreams that I will get a chance to meet @ImranKhanPTI <link>i will say to him, "ooper khuda hai aur meray lia zameen par tum ho".????????#SKMCHDubaiFundraiser <link> pic.twitter.com/9GMCj1pQU9 <link>

Imran Khan gave a short and sweet speech, he thanked Maya and Mahira and appreciated the fact that the younger generation had stepped in.

He further added that there was a time when Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Madam Noor Jehan helped raised funds and was glad that the younger generation was just as committed.
