ISLAMABAD: (APP) The construction of the 62-km Gojra-Shorkot section of Faisalabad-Multan Motorway will be completed by early next year.
According to National Highway Authority, to ensure timely completion, the Gojra-Shorkot section has been sub-divided in two construction packages.
The first package is the 31-km Gojra-Jamani section which will cost Rs 8.35 billion while the 31-km Jamani-Shorkot will cost Rs 8.83 billion.
The project is funded by the Asian Development Bank which gave a $178-million loan for the construction of Gojra-Shorkot section of M-4, including $91 million grant provided by the DFID United Kingdom.
The government of Pakistan is investing a counterpart share of $46 million in the project. As per initial estimates the project was to cost Rs 21 billion but due to the competitive process, it will now cost Rs 17 billion.
This 62 km M-4 section will connect Gojra to Shorkot via Toba Tek Singh.
