ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan has telephoned United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to express his “deep shock and concern” at the ongoing situation in Indian occupied Kashmir.
A statement by the PM Office on Thursday said the premier expressed his concerns at the ‘grave human rights violations by Indian security forces’ and underscored UN’s role to end these violations. ADVERTISING
The telephonic contact comes days after Guterres strongly condemned the killings of innocent civilians at the hands of Indian security forces in Indian occupied Kashmir’s Pulwama area which has become a new battlefield between oppressed civilians and armed troops.
In a fresh wave of violence, at least seven civilians were killed while over three dozen were left injured when Indian forces fired at protesters in Pulwama over the weekend sparking concerns in Pakistan and the global community.
Residents accuse troops of directly spraying gunfire into the crowds.
