Accountability Court accepts Sharif family plea

ISLAMABAD – An accountability court in Islamabad on Monday has decided to announce joint verdict in remaining two references against Nawaz Sharif, his political heir-apparent Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Capt (retd) Safdar.

As per details garnered, the court resumed hearing of the case here in Islamabad today.

As the hearing proceeded, Sharif’s legal counsel Khawaja Haris requested court to announce a joint verdict in Al-Azizia and Flagship references filed against Sharif family by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on directives of Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC). The court approved the request.

The accountability court also summoned Wajid Zia—head of former Panamagate joint investigation team— for cross-examination on Aug 27. After concluding cross-examination, Zia’s statement will be recorded in Flagship reference.
