According to international news agencies, addressing a seminar, Elizabeth Horst emphasized that Pakistan should implement the recommended reforms by the International Monetary Fund because it is the only way to stabilize its ailing economy. She clarified that the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan has provided an opportunity for the U.S. to view its relationship with Pakistan as mutually beneficial, encompassing economic well-being and political aspects.
Referring to the political aspect of this relationship, she mentioned that the United States supports democracy in Pakistan but does not endorse any particular individual or group. She stated that they support the Pakistani people's right to elect their next government.
