PAT secretary general granted bail in Model Town case by LHC

LAHORE: (APP) A Lahore High Court division bench on Monday granted protective bail to Pakistan Awami Tehreek's (PAT) Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, implicated in FIR of Model Town tragedy, till September 23.
The division bench headed by Justice Abdul Sami Khan heard the plea filed by Khurram Nawaz Gandapur for protective bail.

During the hearing, the petitioner's counsel submitted that PAT had launched a movement against the government and it was fear that the petitioner would be arrested as a reaction.
He said that the petitioner wanted to appear before the anti-terrorism court on September 20 to get his statement recorded in Model Town tragedy trial and there were strong apprehensions that the police would arrest the petitioner before recording his statement. He pleaded the bench to grant protective bail.
After hearing the arguements of the counsel of the petitioner, the bench granted protective bail to Khurram Nawaz Gandapur till September 23 and directed police to refrain from arresting him.
