Pakistan's strong response over deadly attack in Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan has given a strong response over the deadly attack in Afghanistan.

Pakistan has strongly condemned terrorist attack in Afghanistan that killed senior security officials and injured at least 12 others.

Pakistan PM and Army Chief have also strongly condemned the deadly attack.

“Pakistan stands with the Afghan government and people and reiterates its support for the Afghan democratic process,” Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal said in a statement.

“We hope that the parliamentary elections taking place the day after tomorrow would be held peacefully. Strengthening of democracy is key to long term peace and security in Afghanistan,” he added.

The spokesperson said Pakistan condemned terrorism and expressed heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the families and friends of those who had lost their lives. He also prayed for swift recovery of the injured.

A powerful Afghan police chief and a journalist were among at least three people killed on Thursday when a gunman opened fire on a high-level security meeting attended by top US commander General Scott Miller, officials said.
