NAB stopped by LHC from proceeding against former DIG

LAHORE (APP): A Lahore High Court division bench on Tuesday stopped National Accountability Bureau (NAB) from proceeding against former DIG Azmat Ullah Gondal in illegal assets case.

The bench also issued a notice to DG NAB Punjab and sought a reply within two weeks.
The division bench headed by Justice Mirza Viqas Rauf passed the orders on a petition filed by former DIG Azmat Ullah Gondal.
Earlier, the petitioner's counsel Adnan Shuja Butt arguing before the bench submitted that the NAB initiated an inquiry against the petitioner for acquiring illegal assets.

However, after investigation, the NAB closed the inquiry but the accountability court did not agreed with the decision and ordered re-investigation of the matter.
He contended that a matter could not be investigated twice and pleaded with the court to set aside the orders of the accountability court.
LHC forms full bench to hear Panama leaks petitions
The bench after hearing initial arguments suspended orders of the accountability court and sought a reply from the DG NAB Punjab within two weeks.
