Model Town case: New developments reported in SC

*ISLAMABAD - The Supreme Court has ordered the formation of a larger bench to establish a joint investigation team in the Model Town case. The next hearing will be held on December 5*.

A two-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice Saqib Nisar and comprising Justice Ijazul Ahsan, heard on Monday a petition to form a new JIT in the case at the Supreme Court’s Lahore Registry.

The larger bench will comprise the chief justice, Justice Asif Saeed Khosa and three other judges.

The petition was filed by Bisma Amjad, the daughter of a woman who died in the Model Town incident. She says that in the previous government’s tenure the respondents were all influential and at senior positions so an independent investigation could not be conducted.
