UNGA President to arrive in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD - President of UN General Assembly Volkan Bozkir as part of his South Asian tour would be visiting Pakistan on a two-day official visit from May 26. This would be Volkan Bozakir's second visit to Pakistan as the UNGA President.

He visited Pakistan from 9-10 August 2020 as President designate of UNGA. During his stay in Islamabad, Volkan Bozakin would meet President Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Imran Khan and Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

The UNGA President has also been invited to deliver a key note address at the National Defence University, Islamabad, on Pakistan’s contribution in the UN peacekeeping missions the world over.

In his recent interaction with the media he said he was visiting Pakistan to honour the country for its “great contribution” to the UN peace-keeping operations around the world aimed at promoting international peace and security. Pakistan is one of the largest troop contributors to the peacekeeping missions.
