Turkey says US stance on sale of F-35 fighter jet to Ankara does not fit with spirit of NATO partnership.
Turkish Defence Minister Hulusi Akar said this in a wrote back letter when his U.S. counterpart Pat Shanahan sent a letter to him warning of the F-35 cancellation.
Ankara has condemned the letter, saying it will not back down from its decision to acquire the S-400 missiles
Foreign ministry said in a statement said, the letter repeated Turkey’s discomfort over the tone and approach which does not fit the spirit of NATO allies and conveyed in detail our known opinion on the issue.
It said Akar also underscored the importance of continuing dialogue in pursuit of solutions to problems.
