KABUL: In Afghanistan, taliban militants resumed their attacks on Afghan security forces, today as three-day ceasefire ended last night.

The spokesman for Faryab provincial police, Abdul Karim Yurash said Taliban militant group targeted security checkpoints in northern Faryab, eastern Ghazni and southern Kandahar provinces.

He said Taliban fighters also abducted six security personnel in eastern Ghazni province.

The Afghan government announced a ceasefire from June 12 to June 19 to encourage Taliban to join national reconciliation process.

Reciprocating the step, armed group declared a three-day truce from the first day of Eid-ul-Fitr to Sunday.

An Afghan Security Council meeting chaired by President Ashraf Ghani extended the ceasefire for another 10 days.

However, the Taliban outfit has refused to extend the truce.
