LAHORE (APP): A full court meeting of the Lahore High Court, held on July 15-17, ruled that the demand for new additional benches in five divisions of Punjab could not be conceded.
The meeting, chaired by LHC Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, and participated by all LHC judges, deliberated on the question of establishment of new LHC additional benches in Faisalabad, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Sahiwal and DG Khan. The issue of increasing strength of the LHC judges from 60 to 100 in view of substantial growth in the volume of work also came under discussion.
On Monday, the LHC chief justice communicated the decision regarding formation of the new benches to the Punjab governor in response to a letter, written by him on March 18, 2013, on the issue.
It is pertinent to mention here that the decision regarding issue of increasing strength of LHC judges is still reserved.
