KARACHI (APP): Japan and Pakistan are tied in firm friendly relations, and higher education sector can help establish stronger cooperation in the fields of academics, research and cultural ties between the institutions of both the countries.
It is a pleasure to see that the University of Karachi is keen to build up linkages with the Japanese universities, said the Consul General of Japan in Karachi, Toshikazu Isomura, in a meeting with Prof. Dr. Khalid M. Iraqi, Acting Vice Chancellor, University of Karachi, during his visit to the campus on Monday, says an official of the University.
According to Dr. Iraqi, the meeting was an initial step to promote linkages between Karachi University and the Japanese universities.
He added that the Consul General of Japan had assured that opportunities of lecture series through video conferencing would be soon developed between the Tokyo University and the University of Karachi.
Under collaborative programmes, the Karachi University's faculty and students would visit Japanese universities which would help strengthen academic and cultural relations between the faculties and students of both sides.
Prof. Dr. Iraqi further said that the Karachi University would establish a Japanese language and cultural institute on its campus which would assist the KU students learn the Japanese language and familiarity with their culture to enhance mutual friendship and trust.
Dr. Iraqi presented KU's souvenir to the visiting guest.
The Registrar KU, Prof. Dr. Moazzam Ali Khan and Prof. Muhammad Sajideen, Director Quality Enhancement Cell, KU were also present in the meeting.
