Indian troops launch massive operation in Srinagar; drones deployed

ISLAMABAD: Indian troops have launched a cordon and search operation in Srinagar Saturday.

According to Kashmir Media Service (KMS) , eyewitnesses said that the troops cordoned off Lal Chowk area of the city, erected barricades and started a search operation.

They said that the troops searched the nearby hotels and frisked commuters. “Forces’ personnel have taken positions on the roofs of high-rise buildings and drones have been pressed into services as well to search the area,” they added.

Meanwhile,the authorities have booked three youth including a student under draconian law, Public Safety Act (PSA), in Pulwama district.

The authorities booked the youth, Amir Shafi, Muhammad Shafi Mir and Suhail Ahmed Wagay under the PSA and shifted them to Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu.

Amir Shafi and Muhammad Shafi Mir were arrested last month following the killing of a youth by Indian troops while Suhail, who is pursuing B.Sc in a college in Bangalore, India, was held two months back when he returned home.

The families of the youth said they have been falsely implicated in false cases and demanded their immediate release.
