Brutal rape, murder of 8 year old girl in occupied Kashmir sparks outrage

SRINAGAR – The brutal rape and murder of an 8-year-old little girl in Kathua district in occupied Kashmir has flared up tensions, according to the Kashmir Media Service.

Asifa Bano, who had gone missing a week ago, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the Hiranagar tehsil of Hindu-dominated Kathua district, initial reports suggested. Her body was shifted to District Hospital Kathua for the postmortem.

There were serious injury marks on the face of the girl, according to KSM.

The family and the relatives of the girl staged a protest in the locality, demanding swift investigation into the case and the arrest of the culprits.

The Opposition Friday morning created an uproar in the Assembly immediately after the proceedings started in the House.

Minister for Parliamentary affairs Abdul Rahman Veeri told the opposition, “the murder of minor girl in Heeranagar area of Kathua district is a serious issue and a Special Investigation Team has been already constituted to probe the matter. I assure that those found guilty will be sternly punished”.

On Thursday, the people of Kashmir held a demonstration on the incompetence of law enforcement authorities after the brutal rape and murder.

Reacting to the incident Chief minister Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday expressed her outrage over the “heinous” murder of the eight-year-old girl.

Mufti took to Twitter to express her resentment and also assured of investigation into the case.

“Outraged by the heinous incident in which a young Bakerwal girl has lost her life. Incidents like this will be investigated expeditiously & the guilty will be punished,” she said.
