ISLAMABAD – Former President Pervaiz Musharraf lawyers strongly react against the Death penalty verdict by Special Court.
Raza Bashir advocate, counsel for former president Pervez Musharraf, announced to challenge the verdict of the special court in the Supreme Court.
Meanwhile responding to the special court’s verdict in high treason case, former president Pervez Musharraf termed the court verdict as ‘dubious’.
A day after a special court awarded Musharraf death sentence – in a video message on Wednesday night – the former president said the supremacy of the law was not taken into consideration in the case.
Musharraf has also termed the decision ‘questionable, saying it was based on ‘personal vendetta’. He also said that the persons who misused their authority targeted a person.
The former military ruler said that the decision did not meet the legal requirements. “Asked to record a video statement but he was not heard that time and the lawyers were not given a chance to argue,” he added.
Musharraf thanked the Pakistani Army and nation for remembering his services, adding that this trust is a medal for him. He further said that he would announce the next course of action after consulting with his law team.
