Govt working to achieve strategic objectives of foreign policy: Qureshi

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi says the government is working to take the war against extremism and terrorism to its logical conclusion and promoting economic stability through inclusive growth.

He was addressing participants of National Security and War Course at National Defense University, Islamabad.

The Minister said Pakistan wants friendly and cooperative relations with all countries, including major powers and immediate neighbors, and a durable solution of the Kashmir dispute.

He said turning Pakistan's geo-strategic location into a geo-strategic asset, projecting the rightful image of the country, cultural ethos and state policies, economic prosperity and growth through multifaceted partnerships and welfare of Pakistani Diaspora abroad are also priority areas of the government.

The Minister said that the government is working to achieve strategic objectives of Pakistan's foreign policy.

He said while safeguarding sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state we are maintaining credible national security capabilities to deter aggression. 

Shah Mehmood Qureshi said Pakistan has been major victim of terrorism but through a collective effort of our security forces and resilient people of Pakistan we have been able to get out of this menace successfully.

He said Pakistan fully supports Afghan peace process as tranquility in Afghanistan is essential for regional peace and stability.
