ISLAMABAD - The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is set to give a blow to the opposition ally PML N.
PML N has started the process to oust Opposition Leader in Senate Sherry Rehman from the position.
A private TV channel reported on Saturday that the PML-N has written to Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani, requesting the change. The PML-N hopes to replace Pakistan People’s Party’s Sherry Rehman with Raja Zafarul Haq. The PML-N already has a majority in the Upper House.
The request was signed by PML-N’s allied parties, including the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl, Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party and the National Party, and submitted to the Senate Secretariat by Haq.
Shehbaz Sharif was nominated as prime minister’s candidate by the joint opposition comprising PML-N, PPP, MMA and ANP. However, the PPP decided to abstain from voting in the PM’s election over reservations on Shehbaz being the candidate for the prime minister’s slot.
