*KARACHI - The Pakistan Navy held a beach cleanup drive at Karachi’s Seaview Beach on Sunday morning.*
Naval officers, personnel and students of Bahria College took part in the drive. They picked up plastic bottles, plastic bags and other garbage that littered the beach.
Some sports celebrities also attended the event, as did members of civil society.
Karachi Commander Rear Admiral Asif Khaliq said marine ecology is threatened by this pollution. We must keep our surroundings clean and ensure that our beach is not littered, especially by plastic, he urged. He also said that people must plant more trees.
After his speech, he planted a sapling at the Nishan-e-Pakistan Park.
