Judges are safeguarding rights of citizens

BAHAWALPUR: Chief Justice Lahore High Court Justice Sardar Muhammad Shamim Khan has said that improvements are being brought into the justice delivery system and prompt justice is possible only after strict accountability.

He said that judges play an important part in safeguarding rights of citizens of the country.

He made these remarks while addressing as Chief Guest at a seminar on the topic of Dispensation of Justice in South Punjab held at the main auditorium of Quaid-e-Azam Medical College Bahawalpur here today.

He said that all the judicial and constitutional institutions of the country are moving forward and it is important that all the institutions must create liaison to provide prompt justice to the people.

He told that Lahore High Court is taking practical measures in this regard.

He said that it was judiciary’s obligation to provide justice to masses by collaborating with executive officers.

He said that the constitution provides protection to the basic rights of citizens and the provision of clean drinking water is one of the major rights of people.

Senior Judge Lahore High Court Bahawalpur Bench Justice Syed Shahbaz Ali Rizvi, Justice Shujat Ali Khan, Justice Shahid Jameel, Justice Jawad Hasan, Justice (Retd) Farrukh Mehmood, President High Court Bar Association Bahawalpur Nadeem Iqbal Chaudhry, General Secretary High Court Bar Association Bahawalpur Malik Ayaz Kulyar, Advocate Supreme Court Dr. Pervaiz Hasan and member Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan Dr. Tariq Hasan also addressed the seminar.

In the end, Chief Justice Lahore High Court Justice Sardar Muhammad Shamim Khan awarded shields and awards to judges and officers of Lahore High Court.
