Chairman NAB assures anti-corruption probes to be completed swiftly, properly

ISLAMABAD:Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal has said that anti-corruption inquiries will be completed swiftly and properly.

In his interaction with media after briefing the Public Accounts Committee of National Assembly in parliament house in Islamabad, he said it is not correct that NAB is taking revenge.

Chairman NAB said there is no power which can pull strings of the Bureau.

He said NAB is to dispose of pending cases of corruption during next ten months.

In response to a question, he said if someone has done corruption then he or she is answerable before and after the elections.

He said that it is not job of NAB to stop former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Talking about the case of Ali Jahangir Siddiqui, the ambassador designate to the United States, he said that steps had been taken to place his name on the Exit Control List but a court of law has refrained the bureau from proceeding further in this regard.

The committee expressed its confidence in the bureau. APP/AFP
