Ali Zafar reacts to the sexual harassment allegations from Meesha Shafi
ISLAMABAD – Popular singer Ali Zafar has responded back to the allegations levelled by the actress and singer Misha Shafi about the sexual harassment case.
Ali Zafar refused to comment on the issue and said that he would talk about this issue later as this is not the proper time to address this issue.
Earlier the famous singer Meesha Shafi has opened up on a very touchy subject claiming to have been sexually harassed by colleague and fellow singer, Ali Zafar!.
Meesha, in a recent Twitter post said: “If this can happen to someone like me, an established artist, then it can happen to any young woman hoping to break into the industry and that concerns me gravely.”
The 36-year-old mother of two stated: “Sharing this because I believe that by speaking out about my own experience of sexual harassment, I will break the culture of silence that permeates through our society. It is not easy to speak out.. but it is harder to stay silent. My conscience will not allow it anymore.”
In a photo uploaded on twitterm she wrote, as a woman, a public figure and a mother, she always felt strongly about using her voice to encourage and support the youth who look up to her, especially girls, who dream of carving their own path in Pakistan.
She further added, throughout her career, her family and her fans have given her unconditional love and support and that has been a blessing and it has allowed her space to be brave and to often speak up about issues, however, despite having a voice, there are some issues that are very difficult to speak about as a woman, especially sexual harassment.
“I have been subjected, on more than one occasion, to sexual harassment of a physical nature at the hands of a colleague from my industry: Ali Zafar. These incidences did not happen when I was young. or just entering the industry. This happened to me despite the fact that I am an empowered, accomplished woman who is known for speaking her mind! This happened to me as a mother of two children.”
