Pervaiz Musharaf in hot waters after Special Court ruling

ISLAMABAD, April 19 (APP): The Special Court, hearing high treason case against Pervez Musharraf for subverting Constitution by proclamation of emergency in the country in November 2007, on Tuesday issued his non-bailable arrest warrants.

The court also directed the Director General (DG) Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to take action against Musharraf.

The three-member bench headed by Justice Mian Mazhar Alam Mandokhel, comprising Justice Tahira Safdar and Justice Yawar Ali announced the verdict on Musharraf's application seeking 14 weeks exemption from appearance on medical ground.

The court dismissed his plea ordering that Musharraf needed to appear before it on May 11, if he wanted to avoid prosecution.

The court directed the Secretary Interior to appear before the court along with written explanation in regards to the permission granted to the former president to leave the country.

The court also ceased the surety bonds submitted by Musharraf's guarantor, Rashid Qureshi, and ordered him to submit a sum of Rs 2.5  million as security deposit.
