Police Reforms Commission established in Punjab: Report

LAHORE – Police Reforms Commission to be established in Punjab, it has been revealed.

The Commission will give recommendations for amendment of legislation and policies regarding police reforms.

Sources said that the commission will also give recommendations regarding police structure, administrative issues, capacity building.

According to the draft prepared by the Punjab Home Department, the chairman of the commission will be appointed by the provincial government who will have powers to appoint its members.

Sources further informed that commission’s chairman, members and assistant members will not be entitled to any benefit or compensation for their services. Formulation of model police laws will also be included in the objectives of commission.
