ISLAMABAD - In the latest development in the Pakistan Cricket, top-order batsman Azhar Ali is likely to replace Sarfaraz Ahmed as the team’s captain in the longest format of the game while wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan could serve as the vice-captain.
Pakistan’s head coach Misbah-ul-Haq has not been very pleased with what he has seen from Sarfaraz Ahmed’s performance and if sources are to be believed, Misbah has reportedly spoken to Pakistan Cricket Board’s Chief Executive Officer Wasim Khan over the change of captaincy for a better tomorrow.
As per the sources, Misbah-ul-Haq made it very clear to the PCB that Sarfaraz Ahmed should not lead the team but with a tough tour like Australia is on its way, the board is reluctant to try their hands with a fresh captain in the cards.
Mohammad Hafeez is in top contention to lead Pakistan in the limited-overs format. As per the reports, the team management is experimenting with young prospects for the Australia tour and in case if the team fails to deliver the substantial outcome, the management can cite a reason, adding that they are in the learning curve.
