PEMRA Complaint Council imposes fine on ARY TV

ISLAMABAD: (APP) The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Complaints Council Saturday imposed fine of Rs 80,000 on ARY TV for levelling 'baseless allegation' by ancher-person Shahid Masood against Finance Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar in his programme aired by the channel.
The Council of Complaints, chaired by Miss Shameem Hamayoo, held hearing the complaints of the Finance Senator against the ARY TV programme 'Live with Shahid Masood' dated 19th February 2016 and imposed the Rs 80,000 fine for levelling baseless allegation and not providing any evidence in this regard, said a press release.
The Council had in its four meeting given opportunities to the channel for providing proofs, which it could not provide.
The council gave 14 day time to the channel pay fine and also issue an apology in the same programme.
