UAE makes an offer to KP government

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has been offered to participate in World Expo 2020 Dubai for the promotion of tourism and other sectors in the province.

The development came while the chief minister was talking to a representative delegation of Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the CM House Peshawar where different investment opportunities came under discussion in the meeting.

The delegation requested the provincial government to participate in Expo 2020 Dubai so as to promote bilateral tourism between the Pakistan and UAE. Besides this, there are vast opportunities for investment in the oil and gas field between the two countries, the CM was told.

CM Mahmood Khan welcomed the delegation to the province, adding that an economic revolution formula would be taken up with the federal government.

He said a high-level delegation of the KP consisting of tourism, health, education, and industries will be sent to Abu Dhabi for bilateral trade and investment soon.

Provincial Finance Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra, Provincial Spokesperson Ajmal Khan Wazir, Advisor to CM on Education Ziaullah Bangash, and other relevant officials attended the meeting. The delegation from Abu Dhabi comprised Khan Zaman Suroor, member of Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce, Dr Niaz Ahmad Khan, Habib Ahmad, Islamabad Customs Secretary, Fazle Ahad Bacha, Abu Dhabi businessman and Zamurd Buneri were present on the occasion.

Dr Niaz Ahmad Khan briefed the meeting about the economic formula to boost the economy of the province. He said that the whole economic picture of the province will change with the implementation of this formula.

“50 lac people will get jobs and this will fulfil the requirements of fiscal year budget,” he said while adding that the move will reduce inflation, tax and duties in the province.

He said, “This is a zero-risk formula from which the government will get its economic goals and objectives. The economic formula will promote interest-free banking where the people of the province, as well as investors, can be supported fully.”

He described different features of the formula, its implementation, monitoring and establishment of the monetary fund through it.

The delegation revealed that several investors and companies of the UAE, especially Dubai and Abu Dhabi, have a deep interest to invest in the KP. The UAE government is keen to indulge in bilateral investment and for this purpose, government-to-government coordination is necessary, the delegation proposed.

The chief minister appreciated the proposal and said that the provincial government will take it up to the federal government.

CM Mahmood Khan assured that he will support the formula for implementation at all levels. He said that the top priority of his government is to provide job opportunities to the youth, adding that those companies and firms who take interest to invest in the KP will be provided with human resource and other facilities.

The meeting agreed to provide training for investors in health, education and marble sectors of the province. The meeting also agreed to facilitate Pakistani workers in the UAE and to support drivers in getting driving licence in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and other states of the country.
