OIC calls for suspending diplomatic, economic ties with Israel

Tehran, Jan 17, IRNA - An International conference in Tehran on Wednesday urged those OIC members having diplomatic and economic ties with the Zionist regime to suspend those ties unless President Donald Trump withdraws his decision to relocate US embassy to Quds.

The call was made by the 13th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC member states (PUIC) in its closing session on Wednesday.

The text of the statement read out by the chairman of Majlis (parliament) National Security and Foreign Policy Commission read, “We as the heads of parliamentary delegations of OIC member states attending the 13th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC member states (PUIC)have come together to discuss challenges facing the Islamic world.”

The statement also called for efforts to deal with the common issues of the Muslims and all human beings as a single system based on such lofty values as justice, democracy and benefaction to all.

Describing Justice, peace and security on the one hand, and sustainable development on the other as supportive pillars, it said that they should be placed high on the agenda of regional and international organizations. Congratulating Iran's Majlis on successful holding of the 13th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC member states (PUIC), the statement highlighted various points as follows: “We condemn terrorism in all its manifestations, urging governments to bolster cooperation with an aim of eliminating the scourge.

“We welcome victories against Daesh in Iraq and Syria and appreciate all the Islamic countries, particularly the Islamic Republic of Iran which played a valuable and active role in this respect in cooperation with governments of other countries.

“We urge promoting dialogues among the Islamic sects, fighting dogmatism and extremism, promoting true understanding about religion and rejecting violence.”

“We strongly condemn racist statements of the US president against other nations and linking Islam to global terrorism and express concern about such psychological statements which create disputes and misunderstandings among nations and religions.

“We strongly denounce US unilateral decision to recognize Quds as the capital of the Zionist regime and consider it a threat to international peace and security and full-scale aggression on the undisputable rights of the Palestinians and a null and void move which aroused sentiments of the Muslims and all freedom-seeking humans around the world.

“We declare our backing for the Palestinian nation and urge removing challenges facing them and we deem resistance as the Palestinians people’ legitimate right until their rights, particularly their return to their homeland and establishment of an independent Palestinian government with Quds as its capital, are fulfilled.”

They also called on the PUIC to revoke Israeli Knesset’ application for being a member of the grouping as a punishment for its violation of international laws.

The statement also urged the member states to cut off political and economic ties with the Zionist regime unless the US President Donald Trump withdraws his decision to relocate US embassy to Quds.

“We also reject all the US unilateral moves as well as judicial rulings against other governments, especially members of the PUIC, as they run counter to international regulations, UN Charter and the governments’ sovereignty and independence.”

“We voice our worrisome about critical humanitarian conditions in Yemen and stress the need for diplomatic solution (to the crisis) and facilitating and accelerating dispatch of humanitarian aid to the impoverished country.”
