Afghan Taliban kill 8 Army soldiers in attacks on security check posts

FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): Eight police and Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers have killed in militants’ attacks on security posts in the capital and Anar Dara district of western Farah province.

Dadullah Qanay, a provincial council member, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Taliban stormed a police post in Ganahkan village on the outskirts of Farah city on Wednesday night.

He said that six policemen were killed and the militants took away their weapons during the incident.

A resident of the area who wished to go unnamed, said that the bodies of the police were laid in their post until 9am today morning. This security post is located only five kilometers from Farah police headquarter.

Qari Yousuf Ahmadi, a Taliban spokesman, also said six policemen were killed in the incident. He said the Taliban also seized weapons and two motorcycles from the post.

Dadullah Qanay said that two ANA soldiers were killed when Taliban stormed their post in the center of Anar Dara district on Wednesday night.

Pajhwok tried to contact with Farah officials for comment about the incidents, but failed.

Militants have recently increased their attacks on security posts in Farah province.
