Aqeela Asifi who taught Afghan refugee girls for decades in Pakistan nominated for $1 million award

PESHAWAR: Afghan teacher Aqeela Asifi in Pakistan has been shortlisted for the $1 million global award. Aqeela has taught the Afghan refugees for decades in Pakistan.

 

As per details, 49 years old Aqeela has been nominated for the “Global Teacher Prize” award. She was a teacher in Afghanistan but she arrived in Pakistan after the occupation of Afghanistan by Taliban in 1992.

 

She came in Kotchandna Camp  when there was not even a single school to provide education to the refugee children. Now there are nine schools in the camp and several teachers providing 


education to the students.



 

On the other hand, Aqeela expressed her happiness over the nomination and thanked Allah Almighty.
