PSL 6: Important decisions announced by PCB

With Just over two months remaining, preparations for the sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) are underway at a rapid pace. As PSL 5 concluded last month, the window to organize the next event had already been very short. ------------------------------

According to sources, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will finalize the promotion and demotion in categories of local players in PSL 6 by today. This will provide the opportunity for the franchises to assemble their squad accordingly.

All the PSL franchises will be expected to announce a maximum of eight retentions within the next ten days. The players that are not retained will be available to pick in the draft.

According to PCB, PSL 6 draft will be held on 8th January. National Stadium Karachi is the most likely venue for the event due to the COVID-19 situation in the country, while Lahore and Multan are also being considered. ------------------------------

PSL 6 will be held from February to March, despite a few grievances by some franchises, who wanted it to be held later next year. PCB decided to hold it in the usual months because of an already tight schedule of the national team.

PCB also had to look at the availability of the international players and media broadcasting rights deal.
