Opposition rejects Sindh government move to extend powers of Rangers with curtailments

KARACHI: Sindh Assembly has approved conditional resolution regarding the powers extension of Rangers while opposition protested and tore the copies of resolution. As per details, the session of Sindh Assembly began under the chair of Speaker. Provincial Home Minister presented a conditional resolution in assembly regarding the power extension of Rangers which was approved by assembly with majority. The powers of the Rangers have been extended for 12 months. According to resolution Rangers can take action against just 4 crimes including target killings, extortions, murders and known criminals. On the other hand, opposition parties has rejected the resolution of Sindh Assembly and said that the ruling Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is doing everything it can to ‘save corrupt individuals. Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) appeared to be on same page against resolution.
