NAB gives yet another blow to Sharif Family

ISLAMABAD – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) gives yet another blow to the Sharif Family over the issue of the bails of Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz.

NAB has strongly opposed the bail plea in its para-wise comments in Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) filed by Sharifs.

The anti-graft watchdog—in its reply— stated the section under which Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), Maryam Nawaz and Capt (rtd) Safdar have been penalized is non-bailable. The reply further read Nawaz Sharif was found guilty of making assets beyond income whereas Maryam Nawaz and her better-half Safdar were accomplices in hiding the assets.

The reply further added concrete evidence were submitted in the accountability court against the Sharifs.

NAB—in its para-wise comments—requested the apex court to dismiss the bail pleas of Sharifs as it wasn’t admissible for hearing.

On July 6, accountability court jailed ousted premier Nawaz Sharif, daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (r) Muhammad Safdar for 10, 7 and 1 year respectively.

Announcing verdict judge, Muhammad Bashir ruled that the Avenfield apartments of the Sharif family shall be seized by the federal government.

The judge while awarding 10 years imprisonment to Nawaz Sharif also imposed an eight million pound (Rs1.2billion) fine, while a fine of two million pound (Rs322 million) has been imposed on his daughter Maryam Nawaz .
