CM Sindh surrenders DIG Karachi, suspends SSP

KARACHI: (APP) Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah taking serious view of the arrest of leader of opposition in the Sindh Assembly Khwaja Izharul Hassan, ordered immediate surrender of the services of DIG East and SSP Malir.

A statement issued by CM's Press Secretary said that the SSP Malir, Rao Anwar, arrested Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly Khwaja Izhar from his residence `without taking the government into confidence.'

The statement said that the Chief Minister expressing his dismay and displeasure, ordered immediate suspension of SSP Malir Rao Anwar and directed IG police to personally take the custody of Izharul Hassan from Gadap Police Station.

The Chief Minister also directed the Chief Secretary Siddique Memon to surrender the services of DIG East Kamran Afzal to the federal government forthwith.

Earlier, the Chief Minister had ordered the suspension of SHO Suhrab Goth who had searched the house of Khwaja Izhar without showing search warrants and informing the government.

The Chief Minister talking to media at SSU Headquarters where he went to offer `Namaz-i-Janaza' of a victim of Khanpur bomb blast, said that the SSP Malir had committed serious mistake, and ordered his suspension.

"I have ordered IG Police to conduct inquiry why he, Khwaja Izahar, has been arrested. I would take strict action if found any illegality and misuse of power on the part of SSP," he said.

The Chief Minister said that nobody would be allowed to erode the authority of the government.

"This is very serious," he asked the IG police and directed him to submit him a detailed report.
