Pakistan elected member to UN Human Rights Council

FO Spokesperson says Pakistan secured more than two third majority votes in election for term 2018-20.


Pakistan has been elected as member to the United Nations Human Rights Council for term 2018-20.


According to Foreign Office Spokesperson, Pakistan secured more than two third majority votes during the elections held in New York.

He said there were five candidates from the Asia Pacific region against four seats.


Spokesperson said Pakistan's membership to this Council demonstrates a strong vote of confidence of the international community in our role and contribution to the national and global human rights agenda.


He said that Pakistan will continue to remain actively engaged with the Council, its processes and relevant stakeholders, both at home and abroad.
