FIA arrests 1,969 human smugglers across the country

ISLAMABAD (APP): Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has apprehended 1,969 human smugglers/traffickers including 89 most wanted such criminals under its special campaign during last two years.

FIA to investigate against former NADRA chief      

Of the total, the Agency arrested 812 human smugglers (785 human traffickers and 27 most wanted ones) during 2014 and 1131 human smugglers (1095 human traffickers and 36 most wanted ones) during 2015.

A data issued by Interior Division showed on Monday that during last two years 12235 illegal Pakistani immigrants have been deported by European countries including 7,275 deportees in 2014 and 4960 deportess in 2015.

On directives of Minister for Interior, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan FIA had initiated a countrywide crackdown on human smugglers and traffickers and it is making hectic efforts for apprehending agents, facilitators and master minds of illegal immigrants and rackets involved in such heinous crimes.

The results of this special campaign are very encouraging and such accused have been arrested.

The data said measures have been taken to address issue of human trafficking/smuggling and these included:

immigration Wing of FIA regulates movement of international passengers at notified border crossing i.e. air, sea and land. The strict control over these entry points leaves a little room for human smugglers to utilize these points.

Moreover, Anti Human Circles have been established in five (05) FIA Zonal Directorates to investigate and prosecute illegal immigrants/travelers.
