Iran successfully puts Satellite into Orbit

Tehran, Jan 16, IRNA- Experts and scientists at Iran's Department of Aerospace Industry have managed to put into orbit Payam (Messenger) satellite, using satellite-carrier Simorgh (Phoenix), Iran's minister of defense and armed forces said Wednesday.

Brigadier General Amir Hatami congratulated the 40th anniversary of the glorious victory of the Islamic Revolution and the defeat of the arrogant front and also offered congratulations to the Iranian dignified nation on the major achievement.

He hailed the efforts of the Iranian scientists, researchers and experts at the Department of Aerospace Industry to design, build and launch satellite-carriers which have put Iran among the space capable nations.

Hatami said designing and building bigger satellites-carriers are on the Department of Aerospace Industry agenda.

Elaborating on the specifications of the satellite-carrier, he said in the first development, the propulsion system consisted of four cluster engines while the flight control system used four engines.

In the second development phase, Hatami added, the propulsion system of the satellite-carrier uses two engines.
